FirstHealth has a strong philanthropic heritage dating back to 1928 when the community raised $75,000 to match the Duke Endowment challenge of $75,000 within one week. Moore County Hospital opened its doors on Thanksgiving Day in 1929 at the wake of the Great Depression. For over 90 years, its doors have remained open 24/7. As a regional referral center for 16 counties, FirstHealth Moore Regional remains the safety net for the region we serve, providing health care for those who have entered its hallways, regardless of their ability to pay. This support continues today through the Foundation of FirstHealth, Inc. Our volunteer governance leaders serve as ambassadors and partner with the Foundation staff to actively build relationships and enlist financial support throughout the region FirstHealth serves.
